NSU's M.S. in Mathematics Education is available in two program options: K-12 Mathematics Education and Postsecondary Mathematics Education. This degree-only program will teach you how to become proficient in assessment, curriculum development, and instruction in subject areas such as geometry, algebra, calculus, and statistics. postsecondary mathematics.

Practicing educators, trainers, and other professionals working with educational programs
who wish to obtain graduate degrees and increase their expertise in their current
field
Courses in this program are content intensive and designed to prepare students for
teaching at the postsecondary level. Given that courses are transferable at the discretion
of the receiving institution, it is highly recommended that you contact the institution
where you are planning to teach prior to enrolling in these courses.

Students interested in pursuing this track must contact their adviser and receive
approval from faculty in the mathematics program before registering for courses.

The applied professional experience is the capstone in the completion of this program. Conducted in an appropriate educational setting, candidates will maintain reflective journals and create files of samples of their students' work and the assessment instruments used to demonstrate achievement of the state professional and content standards. All applied professional experiences are accompanied by a portfolio detailing the rationale, process, and evaluation of the project. This course is one of the many practical applications included in the program.
