What's the Difference between an Ed.S. and an Ed.D.?
Unlike a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree, an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree does not require students to complete a dissertation. Both Ed.D. and Ed.S. degrees are typically acquired after students receive their master’s degrees.
An Ed.S. is designed for educators who want to gain additional specialization in an area of interest in order to become a better teacher or transition into a leadership role. An Ed.D. is usually for those who want to specifically move to a leadership role.
